I have a silver boxer. It is Varvara. She is 10 years old and shi is gray-haired. But we don’t want to call her gray-haired, we call her “silver” girl. The old dog always caused in me special feelings. The dog, who has given all life to me, is worth the biggest attention. Her sight is not so good. She has problems with hearing. Metabolism is not in the best form too. Some dogs grow thin strongly and lose appetite. Varvara has gone another way. She began to increase the weight. Now the main task for Varvara - to eat something once again. If she will notice, that somebody has gone on kitchen, she runs after him. At this time she looks as a dog that is ready to fall in a hungry faint. We especially for this purpose have prepared crackers. Usual dietary bread cut slices and dried it up. And now, when Varvara looks at us especially hungry eyes, she receives a cracker. I have never had such soft and chubby dog. Thus Varvara tries to be always near to me. It seems to me, that thus she tries to provide to herself guarantees, that if she will have a problem, she will be helped to solve it. She does not feel ready to solve all the problems any more. Now she allows caring of herself. She accepts any care. She was very independent dog before. She behaved as the puppy only with the owner. She played any games. Overturned on a back, allowing the owner to scratch her stomach. Jumped with joy at a meeting of the owner. For all others she showed faultless manners of behaviour of the lady. And now it is simple very kind house dog. She actively searches for contact to any person. Willingly accepts the help from any person. I understand that events develop correct by. That any organism all over again is born, develops and after dies away. It is correct. But for me sadly to see, that the peak of blossoming for Varvara has already passed.

No, it is not simply heat in the street. There is scorching heat in the street. My dogs do not walk in the street in the afternoon. If you try to entice them on street, they stick into a floor all claws. They can be moved only using force and only in the fallen asleep position. Because they will not rearrange paws. They will cling to all conceivable and inconceivable obstacles by these paws. They will fall on a floor with a look of died dog. And they will look thus as though they have died yesterday. They can be enticed from an apartment with ice-cream. But in the lift they usually already eat up ice-cream. They will not leave an entrance. If I would have one dog, maybe, I still tried something to make. I do not cope with four dogs. I have surrendered. Let to themselves houses in a shadow on a draft till the evening lay. If they do not require walks, what for to create to myself superfluous problems?

And where at the person an instinct which will force him to concern and appreciate world around objectively? The instinct which will not allow the person to consider itself as exception, and will force him to perceive itself only a small part of the world? An instinct which will not allow the person to change the world «under itself»? Instinct which will not allow the person to destroy the world belonging not only him?

People often make a mistake when choose a dog for the first time. People use not those criteria which are really important in this question. Often the main role plays appearance of a dog. People have long discussions as their pet should appear. Whether it should be fluffy or not, white or black, big or small. The majority of people think that if they live in a small apartment also their dog should be small. But the small choleric dog occupies more places, than the big phlegmatic dog. The important role is played with a fashion on breeds. But the fashion on the certain breed to lasts three-five years. Then one fashionable breed is replaced by another one. But dogs live ten-twelve years. And many fashionable pedigree attributes hide in themselves the certain problems with health and mentality. The some people think that if they cannot devote much time to a dog it is necessary to get a small dog. Forgetting, that a small dog is big efforts too. Determining what a dog should be - small defenseless or big and courageous, people do not reflect, that the big size of a dog does not protect dogs from the same problems with health. I would advise to give more attention in this question to such concept, as “breed”. Try to find out as much as possible about the breed which has interested you. It would be quite good, if you would study some breeds. Would find out their history. Would find out for what mankind has invented this breed. What working qualities of dogs are incorporated in this breed? In fact this moment will play very important role in behavior of your pet. You should study an anatomic structure of the given breed attentively. Usually behind anatomic features problems with health are hidden. Short muzzle - problems with breath and as the consequence big loadings on heart, means problems with heart. Dog large - the problems. For the first year of a life it is necessary for puppy to increase weight of the body a hundred times. The puppy is born weight in 500 gram, and by a year it already should weigh fifty kg. Usually joints have not time to be formed so quickly. Joints lag behind in growth. Therefore large dogs often have problems with joints: such as arthritis. Excessive amount of folds of a skin - new problems. Any wound serves as the open door for an infection. The result - the growth of risk of the infectious diseases, the lowered immunity. It is very difficult to tell looking on the puppy what character will be at it, when it will become an adult dog. Formation of a dog depends on a plenty of factors. But it is possible to define the type of temperament. And it is very important. The dog with mobile temperament (the choleric or the sanguine) will more suit the amateur of morning jogs than the amateur of fishing. The terrible heat is in the street�! Thirty degrees in shadow. I can’t take such temperature. But when I see, how it is difficult for my dogs, it becomes even worse to me. Dogs have lost any interest to day time walk. In the street they try to keep in the shadow all time. They refuse to walk. They agree to the long walks only on 6-7am or 10-11pm o’clock. They suffer equally: boxers, with their short muzzle and short-haired mastiffs, with their long enough muzzles. Our neighbor, the black terrier, simply pines with heat. An assurance of cynologists, that the rigid volumetric wool of terriers rescues dogs from heat, in practice are not true. It is hard to look at sheep-dog Dezi. She tries to kip form very much. But she looks as the thawn ice-cream. And I start strongly worries.

Comment of kira: if in the afternoon quickly-quickly to run in a shadow, to solve all questions. And then quickly-quickly to return to the house and to fall a stomach to a cold floor still it is possible to struggle with this heat. If heat becomes the greater, we shall demand from mum of cold milk as indemnification.

The secret of long life of General Edi is very simple: the dog adores eating of… cigarettes! Who has imparted to a dog such strange habits, it is not known. General Edi “destroys” 10 cigarettes per day, eating a paper and tobacco, accurately spitting out filters. And in fact it is accepted to consider cigarettes �harmful habit�.
Coffee is harmful habit too. But how can Kira understand this? Kira runs on kitchen faster a lightning when I open bank of coffee. I cannot pour coffee only to myself. Kira will not forgive it to me. And it is not important for her whether I drink coffee. It is important, that coffee would drink Kira. She can drink coffee from the bowl, can from cup or even to lick it from a saucer. The sandwich to coffee is not obligatory. And even it is possible without cheese. Kira is ready to refuse much. But not coffee. I know the favorite recipe of coffee �from Kira� - cold sweet coffee with cream. Kira even can work as good girl for a cup of such coffee. I think that this �harmful habit� is very useful for Kira.
Varvara has �harmful habit� too. Chocolate. It is possible are sweet. It is possible bitter. It is possible black. It is possible dairy. With impurity. Without impurity. My strong Varvara become very weak when she saw chocolate. She is ready to elicit chocolate from those who does not guess to treat with her. She can loudly elicit chocolate from those who convinces Varvara, that chocolate is harmful for dogs. She can even steal a bar of chocolate from a table. And only after all chocolate is eaten and the piece of paper is licked, Varvara start to conscience. If you saw that especial happy look of Varvara, when she eats chocolate you would never name chocolate a harmful habit.
And if these habits are not too harmful, I will go on kitchen. I shall cook to myself coffee. Take chocolate! Is a pity, but cigarettes are not necessary for me. I do not smoke. And not eat cigarettes!

From Kira: frequently it seems to people, that they know well enough about the world of dogs. That you understand our life. That you can give us the recommendations. That you can make comments on our acts. You consider that having lived sixteen years together with a dog it is possible to consider yourself the expert on the dog souls. Instead of would you like to listen to a dog that all her life lives with the people? First, for me it is absolutely unclear, what for to complicate the life so? What for are there so much not necessary things? Everywhere in the house a thing, a thing, a thing … What for to litter the dwelling so? If there is less furniture in a room, there is more place for games. In an empty room it is possible to run, jump and play a ball. It is possible for one. But it is better with other dogs. I understand – a sofa a good piece. It is possible to lay on it. It is possible to jump on it too. It is warm on it in the winter. In the summer - is closer to an open window. But what for chairs? What’s bed in a floor? What for to drag behind itself “a support under itself”? In fact it is easier without it. Where has wanted – there and sit. It is possible near a bowl. It is possible near to the friend. It is possible to sit on the friend. All it is good and cheerful. And what for your lying on a sofa and watching TV. What for to you moving pictures which do not smell, which cannot be caught, with which it is impossible to play, which are useless? You can go on street at the desire. Why do you absolutely do not appreciate it. There the sun which heats. There a wind which smells. Many familiar dogs and people with whom it is possible to communicate. It is possible to go to a new place and to find new friends. Certainly, the house is necessary for each person and each dog. The house is a place where your friends and a bowl full of meal wait for you. But the house is necessary not for constant repair. Smelly banks of paints, rolls of wall-paper with which it is impossible to play, another’s people in your house … Is it good? What for it to you? What pleasure you receive from it? Tell us. Please. Polar explorers love their pets - penguins very much. And care of this birds. There is a special work at polar station: “The person who overturns penguins”. The problem consists in the following. Penguins are very curious. And rather silly. They are not able to make a conclusion. Their natural conditions of life are not variety. Therefore, presence of people is dangerous for them. If the penguin has fallen to a back, it cannot turn over. It is arranged so anatomically. In natural conditions it falls only on a stomach. The penguin appears in a difficult situation when it has fallen to a back. But their curiosity is stronger than fear of danger. They come whole the company on station to observe, when something occurs at station. All is safe, if the car passes or the plane arrives. The problem arises, if the plane flies up. Penguins observe of plane when it flies up very attentively. Penguins that are at the rate of the plane fall on a back when the plane passes a point of zenith. And “the person who overturns penguins” is hurry to help poor birds.
